If you’ve watched me play slots on YouTube, you know I like to play high limit slots. When you visit a casino in person, most have a special section devoted to high limit slots, but online that wasn’t generally the case. But for a broader array of options, the casino game Search feature is your best friend. Typing in “High Limit” or “High Stakes” in the search bar will surface an even larger list of options, provided by a variety of game providers such as IGT, Everi and AGS.
How High Limit Slots Online Differ from Standard Slots
There are a few key differences that can exist with high limit slots vs. the standard ones. One thing that generally doesn’t differ is the basic game play. Press Your Luck Whammy Wilds, for instance, plays similarly in its original form as it does in its High Limit form.
Bet Sizes
One thing that will differ is the range of available bets. Many online slots already had a pretty diverse range of bets, often starting with bets as low as 10 or 20 cents per spin on the low end and into the tens of dollars on the high end.
A high limit slot, by comparison, will often start in the tens of dollars on the low end and into the hundreds (or occasionally, thousands) of dollars on the high end.
Progressive Prizes
For some games, the progressives on offer are higher to reflect the bigger bets. A game like Press Your Luck Whammy Riches has a set of progressives built based on a set of bet levels, so it makes sense that the bet ranges being higher will adjust the progressives similarly to match the bigger investment from players.

Online slots already come with a more generous RTP than their physical casino counterparts, but I’ve found in some cases the high limit RTP can be a bit more generous than the standard version.
Players shouldn’t play high limit slots for the better RTP alone – your budget size has its place in determining your bet size – but it’s certainly worth checking if you’re already pursuing those bigger bets, as it can be a great way to stretch your entertainment dollar over time.
Higher RTP means you’re expected to lose less in the long term, presuming the same amount wagered. Of course, in the short term, it can go better or worse than that – that’s how you can hit a jackpot one session, and lose your butt the next.
