While it’s undoubtedly fun to play online casino games on the shores of the Great Lakes, there are many other summer activities in Ontario that are perfect for making the most of your time there. Here’s a list of fun things for you to do in Ontario this summer!

1. Visit Niagara Falls

One of the best summer experiences is undoubtedly a visit to Niagara Falls. Take in these majestic waterfalls from the Table Rock Center for free or book a boat tour with Journey Behind the Falls to feel their power up close (naturally making it a great spot for Instagram photos!). You can also take to the skies in a helicopter or visit the observation deck of the Skylon Tower to get an elevated view of the Falls. If you want to get the most out of your visit, join a guided tour to learn even more about these awe-inspiring waterfalls.

And while there’s no doubt that the Falls themselves are an incredible sight, there’s even more for you to enjoy once you’ve arrived, including visits to Niagara Falls State Park, shooting, birding, fishing, golfing, camping and much more.

2. Enjoy An Exciting Music Festival

It’s always fun to explore the great outdoors during summer, particularly when it involves attending an exciting music festival. Ontario has a vibrant music festival scene that comes to life during summer and caters to all sorts of tastes and budgets. From the Electric Island and SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival, to the Heritage Sounds Music Festival, there are just so many musical genres for you to explore and enjoy throughout the summer.

3. Go Caving In The Deepest, Darkest Caves And Grottos

Although not an activity in Ontario that’s under the radar, it does take you very deep under the ground! While caving may make some people think twice, not all caving adventures involve you squeezing through increasingly tight crevices and exploring underground regions which have remained virtually untouched by humankind. Yes — these kinds of hair-raising caving experiences exist for the particularly brave to enjoy. Still, for others, many other caving experiences are more like underground hikes than adrenaline-pumping journeys into the unknown. Depending on your preferences, there are the Bonnechere Caves, Greig’s Caves, Scenic Caves, the Tyendinaga Caves and many more caving adventures for you to participate in.

4. Go Hiking Or Camping In One Of The Region’s Many National Parks

There’s no better way to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life than going for a hike or spending the night out in the wilderness. Thankfully, Ontario has some fantastic national parks where you to get in touch with nature again, including incredible vistas, great places to go for a swim, take part in fun tubing or pop into a canoe and paddle around, as well as excellent opportunities for birding and even some trails where cycling is allowed.

Some of the best national parks include Algonquin Provincial Park, Killarney Provincial Park, Lake Superior Provincial Park and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Just be sure to check that the park you plan to visit offers or allows all the activities you’re interested in pursuing.

5 .Take In The Beautiful Sights Of The Long Sault Parkway

If you enjoy hitting the road but also want to enjoy the beauty of nature, the Long Sault Parkway may be exactly what you’re looking for. This is an area comprising 11 islands that are connected by a 10km parkway, allowing you to drive “through” the river between each of the islands and take in the stunning views. Some activities to enjoy along the parkway include paddling, fishing, hiking or visiting the Woodlands beach.

6. Soak Up Some Sun At The Beach

Ontario may not be the first place you think of when planning a day at the beach, but the province has some locations offering visitors the complete beach experience, even if they’re not next to the ocean. Places such as Wasaga Beach don’t only offer sandy beaches where you, your friends and family can soak up the sun but also exciting events and festivals, areas for you to go boating, great bars and restaurants and even more activities such as go-karting, golf and other outdoor fun. Additional sun-soaked beach adventures await at Cobourg Beach, Grand Bend Beach and Sauble Beach.

7. Explore the Deep Water

Again, Ontario isn’t the kind of place you’d immediately think of when you plan to go diving, but it undoubtedly offers some incredible underwater experiences. Ontario has many companies that offer to take novices (who will be taught everything they need to know) and experienced divers alike into the depths of its waterways and lakes to discover what lies beneath the water’s surface, including some jaw-dropping shipwrecks. Some of the best sites to dive include Chippawa Creek, Lake Erie, the Niagara River and the Picton area of Lake Ontario.
