Our Casino World Tour Bucket List – 8 of the Best

A pile of casino chips sit on top of a casino table.

Playing at a real online casino is great fun, thanks to the massive library of table games, slots, and more, but there’s still something that land-based casinos offer that you simply cannot find anywhere else. Whether it’s the bright lights, the incredible sounds, or the exciting casino games and other experiences on offer, visiting a casino in person is undoubtedly a fun, glitzy, and exciting experience!

There’s also no doubt that some casinos offer an experience that stands head and shoulders above the rest – we take a look at eight of these exceptional casinos in our casino world tour bucket list (in no particular order).

1. Atlantis Paradise Island

Where: Paradise Island, Bahamas

Developer Kerzner International Resorts saw the potential of the original Paradise Island Hotel and Casino, which was opened in 1968, and purchased Paradise Island in 1994. Just four years later, the newly reborn Atlantis Paradise Island was unveiled. It cost $800 million at the time, which is unsurprising considering its incredible open-air marine environment, spectacular Mayan-themed waterslides, and stunning hotel, The Royal.

As you’d expect from a venue of this caliber, you can also have a great time playing games of chance at the Atlantis Casino. This Caribbean island casino features 85 gaming tables, hundreds of slot machines, and gambling next to the pool, as well as a view of the ocean, at The Cove Pool.

2. Casino Baden-Baden

The town of Baden-Baden in Germany.

Where: Baden-Baden, Germany

If you’re traveling through Germany, a stop at Casino Baden-Baden – in the town of the same name – is a must. The building, which is now home to the casino, resort, and spa, was built in 1824 by the architect, Friedrich Weinbrenner. It was originally built and designed to house a casino, and has stayed true to its purpose for almost two centuries. Casino Baden-Baden has also retained its reputation as one of the go-to gambling establishments in Europe, with a guided tour available if you’d like to learn more about its long history.

The casino itself offers traditional table games including roulette, blackjack, and poker, as well as a wide range of slot machines, some of which have incredible mystery wins and progressive jackpots!

3. Bellagio.

Where: Las Vegas, Paradise, Nevada, USA

Built in 1998, the Bellagio is operated by MGM Resorts International, and is one of Las Vegas’ most recognisable casino resorts. If you were to pass the Bellagio at the right moment, you’d be treated to its world-renowned Fountains of Bellagio – an incredible fountain, music, and lights show that takes place on a massive 19.8 acre lake in front of the entrance. But that’s not all this Italian-influenced casino and resort has to offer: You can also enjoy the Fiori di Como, an incredible artwork made of more than 2,000 pieces of glass! This stunning suspended ceiling is available for all to see above the front desk at the Bellagio Hotel.

Of course, there’s also thrilling gambling to be enjoyed at the Bellagio, which not only includes table games, slots, and poker, but also a 5,600sq ft sportsbook (with 99 individual screens, as well as more than four dozen large screens with various sports to watch.) If you’re a gambler with a wide range of tastes, this venue undoubtedly has it all! Players at any BetMGM casino can also take advantage of the M life Rewards program.

4. Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa

Where: Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA

Another great casino that’s also operated by MGM Resorts International is the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa at Atlantic City over on the Jersey Shore. It has undergone major renovations three times since it was opened in 2003, ensuring that it continues to offer its visitors an incredible experience. This venue boasts a wide range of amenities, restaurants, and other great services, and also hosts many events over the course of the year, such as the iconic Borgata’s Annual Fireworks Spectacular.

When it comes to casino gaming, there’s the great Borgata Poker Room, plus hundreds of poker, reel, and video slots, as well as the BetMGM Sportsbook & Bar for those who like to take part in sports betting when they gamble. Naturally, this sportsbook offers a premium experience, with an amazing 40ft-wide LED video wall, a VIP lounge, and much more!

5. Excalibur Hotel and Casino

The welcome to Las Vegas sign as the sun sets.

Where: Las Vegas, Paradise, Nevada, USA

If you’re looking for something a little bit different, or with a medieval twist, be sure to check out the Excalibur Hotel and Casino. This location evokes a classic castle look to present a venue that truly stands apart from many other modern casinos, and is named after the legendary sword that King Arthur wielded. It was opened in 1990, and has been renovated and expanded over the years to become one of the largest hotels in Las Vegas.

As with all the other incredible casinos, you can enjoy great slots, table games, and poker, as well as mobile sports betting. You’ll also gain access to exclusive rooms at this venue if you download and play the fun and fantastic myVEGAS Bingo on your mobile phone!

6. Foxwoods Resort Casino

Where: Ledyard, Connecticut, USA

Originally built as a bingo hall in 1986, this great establishment has grown to become a fully fledged casino hotel and resort. Foxwoods, which is owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, has laid claim to the title of largest resort casino in North America.

Here you can enjoy bingo, table games including blackjack, craps, and roulette, as well as slot machines. You can also play poker games that are run from the casino’s dedicated poker room – the largest one on the Eastern Seaboard!

7. MGM Macau

Where: Macau, China

If you ever happen to find yourself in Macau – China’s answer to Las Vegas in the form of an autonomous region with its own special rules on gambling – you must find the time to visit MGM Macau! As you may have guessed from the name, this is another venue that’s owned and operated by MGM Resorts International. It’s one of the newer casinos on our list, having opened its doors to visitors in 2007. This is another location with a unique look: the building has a wave-like structure with three different-colored layers. If you’re looking for an exceptional overall experience, you’re guaranteed to find it here: Forbes Travel Guide awarded MGM Macau another five-star rating in 2021, making it the sixth consecutive year that the venue has received this accolade.

As you’d expect from a five-star venue, the casino will certainly not disappoint, with an absolutely fantastic range of casino games, from slots to table games!
