Whether you’re getting dressed up for a night out at the casino or throwing on your most lush loungewear for a relaxed day at home playing online slots, keeping up with the latest fashion trends for women can help elevate your wardrobe to have you looking your best, no matter the occasion.

2023 fashion trend forecast

While 2022 saw a return to the basics, 2023 fashion trends throw things all the way back to the early 2000s with bright neons, soft grunge, biker jackets and DIY denim. While fashion trends used to change drastically every six months, this year, we’ll be seeing a number of the biggest trends of last year being developed, extended and updated.

So, what should you keep in your wardrobe and where can you spruce things up? Find out as we look at a few of the biggest trends of 2023.

Tassels and fringes

Treat your party dresses to a fully fringed makeover! Ideal for Instagram reels and dancing the night away, this fun tassel detailing adds drama, depth and movement to your looks. From Versace’s buttery leather fringing to Victoria Beckham’s ultra-kinetic hems, this season, you’ll want to look out for glamorous fringe dresses, bohemian tasseled knits and elevated poolside ensembles.

Lace and laser cutting

From lingerie-inspired pieces at London Fashion Week to Dior’s gothic glam, lace detailing – specifically the artisan detailing with intricate laser cutting present on runways – is a wonderful way of celebrating the warmer months of the year. Light fabrics and cut-outs in every color (from baby blue to classic white and bold brights) lend to the perfect evening and occasion wear. Attending a wedding or engagement party in 2023? An investment in a timeless lace piece may be the perfect accompaniment.

Blue hues

Baby blue colored the runways at both New York and London Fashion Week, with fluffy coats at 16 Arlington, sequined gowns at Badgley Mischka and soft ruffles at Hai. For those who prefer a more delicate color palette, this baby blue comeback will present perfectly in elegant evening wear, chic summer separates and classic day dresses.

Active luxe

If your idea of a perfect weekend consists of playing, watching or betting on sports, then you’ll be in your element this year! Not only does 2023 promise some unforgettable sporting action, but you’ll also be able to enjoy it while looking and feeling both comfortable and stylish. Gone are the days of leggings and oversized hoodies; this year brings polished pieces, luxe fabrics and silky sweatshirts to the field. From Fendi’s embellished skirts to moto-inspired jackets, this year you’ll have a range of bomber jackets, satin-style tracksuit trousers and pocketed sports jackets to choose from.

Florals

Florals have been in vogue for decades, and that’s not about to change. Bigger and brighter than ever, this year brings large-scale blooms to the runway, seen by Richard Quinn, Paul & Joe, and Rixo during London Fashion Week. A staple in your spring and summer collection, this style can be updated by going bolder than you may previously have dared, with printed blouses and floral dresses bringing a timeless feminine touch to your wardrobe.

All things leather

Dig out your leather jacket, skirt and pants – it’s 2023! Leather goods made their comeback in fall 2022, and they will remain a staple for years to come. Leather coats and jackets even featured in the spring/summer collection of Versace, Tod’s and Prada in looks that epitomized the current biker chic trend.

Y2K Denim

Y2K denim is filling the fashion houses this season, and there’s no escaping it. We’re talking low waistbands, printed designs, slouchy silhouettes, and – you guessed it – knee-high boots and accessories. Skinny jeans have been on their way out for a couple of seasons now, and 2023 is here to deliver a rude awakening if you’re still struggling to separate from them. We’ve seen mom jeans become boyfriend jeans become wide-leg fits, and this year we’re calling in the noughties with head-to-toe denim ensembles. From baggy jeans to denim dresses and coats, channel your inner Britney and break out.

Tailored suits

A super sleek two-piece is as fashionable now as ever. Think oversized blazers and wide-leg trousers in a muted color palette – worn bare underneath if you’re feeling daring and going for a Chanel-style runway look or with a silk cami to achieve a classic Roksanda appeal. If you like your suits tailored, Victoria Beckham came through with simple blazers that act as mini dresses that would pair well with both thong sandals and heels. A suit will form part of your capsule collection and offer a plethora of outfit opportunities.

Utility

Cargo and utility pants have been making their comeback since 2018, and this glammed-up Y2K trend is back in full force. From satin jumpsuits to sheer cargo pants and low-rise belted skirts, bring the nostalgia back to your wardrobe in this mashup of military aesthetics and streetwear influence. A tailored boiler suit unzipped into a deep V-neck paired with a killer pair of stilettos and you’ll be rocking the trend.
