Poker legend to headline upcoming marketing efforts for BetMGM’s poker offerings, beginning with WPT Online Borgata Poker Open
Jersey City, NJ (September 7, 2021) – BetMGM, a leading sports betting and digital gaming company, announced today that Darren Elias will become partypoker US Network’s latest brand ambassador. Elias, a poker icon, will represent the Network by participating in and promoting various online events across all live markets, starting with the WPT Online Borgata Poker Open in New Jersey (September 19-21).
“As partypoker US Network continues to expand, I’m excited to grow with them and bring accessible, championship-level online poker to players across the U.S.,” said Darren Elias, a four-time World Poker Tour (WPT) champion. “As an online Main Tour event, I believe that the upcoming WPT Online Borgata Poker Open can fill a void left by the postponement of many live events this season. I hope to ‘see’ many of friends on the felt, as we all try to put our name on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.”
Darren Elias, a New Jersey resident, won the first of his four WPT titles at the Borgata Poker Open in 2014 and is the all-time WPT leader in wins, final tables, and cashes. While Darren has nearly $9M in live poker earnings, he has also amassed more than $8 million in online tournament earnings throughout his 15-year career. His partnership with partypoker US Network was brokered by Tom Wheaton, founder of Above the Felt Entertainment.

The WPT Online Borgata Poker Open is the final event in September’s partypoker US Network Online Series in New Jersey (September 12-21). The $3,500 buy-in tournament features a $1 million guaranteed prize pool and a live-streamed final table. The Network has already completed a freeroll tournament which awarded 10 players entry into the event and satellites, starting at five dollars, began on August 29. BetMGM Poker, Borgata Poker, and partypoker NJ players must be physically located in New Jersey to participate in the WPT Online Borgata Poker Open.
