From YouTube megastars and Twitch streamers, to TikTok creators and Instagram influencers, America’s social media dominance is driven by surprisingly few states.
BetMGM analyzed the world’s top 500 most followed creators across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch, analyzing 2,000 top influencer accounts in total, to uncover which US states have produced the country’s biggest online personalities and to reveal the true influencer capitals of America.
The research used publicly available follower data and rankings from Social Blade and manually identified where each US creator featured in the rankings was born. Only US-born influencers were included in the analysis, while brand and media accounts such as Netflix were excluded.
More Than Half of America’s Top Creators Come From Just Four States
The findings show that creator success remains heavily concentrated in a handful of states, with California, New York, Florida, and Texas accounting for more than half (51%) of all US-born creators identified in the analysis.
Together, those four states produced 287 of the top-ranked creators included in the study such as well known influencers including Kylie Jenner, Madison Beer and The Stokes Twins.
| State | Total No. Of Top Influencers Born | Their Total Combined Followers |
| California | 137 | 7,485,390,000 |
| New York | 63 | 2,014,500,000 |
| Florida | 44 | 1,534,380,000 |
| Texas | 43 | 1,573,370,000 |
| Pennsylvania | 23 | 1,080,270,000 |
California dominated the rankings, producing 136 top creators including Brent Rivera who has over 42 M followers on Youtube and Kim Kardashian who has 345 M followers on Instagram. This is nearly 10 times more than the average represented state and accounts for almost one in four US-born creators identified in the analysis.
Collectively, California-born creators amassed an enormous combined audience of 7.48 billion followers across the four platforms analyzed, averaging almost 55 million followers each.
The findings suggest creator success still clusters around major population, entertainment, and cultural hubs.
